After winning 2012 Best Overall Neighborhood in Chicago Reader, Logan Square was one of eight neighborhoods nominated for HuffPost Chicago’s Best Neighborhoods for Parents. The nominations were placed in a tournament bracket for a neighborhood showdown. Exacting revenge for its 2012 Best Overall Neighborhood Runner-Up status, Lincoln Square ousted Logan Square in the first round.
Although Logan Square didn’t go on to victory, let’s highlight an organization that focuses on kid-friendly events in the area. Chicago Kidical Mass is a safe, free and fun way to gets the kids out to Palmer Square and around the neighborhood for an hourlong bike ride. The event kicks off at 10:30am the second Saturday of every month, rain or shine. Organizers discuss the day’s route and important topics/changes, and parents and kids get a chance to mingle before pushing off at 11am.
