After working for years as a managing consultant in the healthcare industry, Teresa Kirschbraun decided she needed a change. Kirschbraun, who has lived in Logan Square for 25 years, combined her knowledge of business and a lifelong passion for books and to open her own bookstore. Two years later, her dream has come to fruition in Logan Square’s newest literary nook City Lit Books (@citylitbooks, 2523 N. Kedzie Blvd.).
The freshly remodeled and pleasingly laid out bookstore boasts a hand-picked collection of more than 8,000 new books for a diverse range of interests. Aside from standard fare, there are also niche selections including independent releases, cookbooks, manga, Spanish literature, and even a section dedicated to banned books.
City Lit has already had a handful of author events and has many more things planned for the future, including a weekly story-time pulling from their children’s section. So, stop on by, grab a pile of books and cozy up by the fireplace.
