On the heels of the success of our January Meetup, the popular gin joint Scofflaw (@scofflaw, 3201 W. Armitage) hosted the LoganSquarists on Feb. 20 for a roaring good time. Not since the ’20s has gin been such a draw. With co-owner Danny Shapiro behind the bar and an exquisite cocktail menu, you’re in for a treat. Not a fan of gin? There are plenty of other offerings by way of other spirits and healthy selection of craft beer.
With about 35 neighbors, including 35th Ward Alderman hopeful Nancy Shiavone in attendance, we kept the glamorous back room buzzing and our gracious server Zack hopping. With drinks in our hands and friends by our side, nothing could round out the evening better than a few noshes from Chef Mickey Neeley. The pub fare was perfect for a quick bite between chats or to share as small plates cozied up next to the fireplace on a vintage sofa.
When we pulled ourselves away at the end of the evening, we felt transported, landing somewhere between the thrill of hitting the latest hot spot and the nostalgia of prohibition all wrapped up in a cozy neighborhood bar.
