With the onset of March comes the winding forward of our clocks and the melting of snow drifts. Take advantage of the last few weekends that remain to hibernate and huddle together indoors. Spring is upon us, friends.
So this weekend, take a peek at Longman & Eagle’s (@longmanandeagle, 2657 N. Kedzie Ave.) new “offsite bar,” OSB at L&E, behind the actual restaurant and off the currently defunct patio. The drink menu will be similar to that of its adjoined restaurant, but “smaller in focus and more tightly curated,” according to Eater.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing Congress Theater (@congresstheater, 2135 N. Milwaukee Ave.) on Friday, and tickets are still available. Rock out to “Sweet Home Alabama” for anywhere from $35 to $100 a ticket. Doors open at 7:30 pm.
Restaurant and live music venue Township (@yourtownship, 2200 N. California Ave.) is hosting performances by Alma Negra, Low on High, Lyra Hill, a Chicago Reader Member Pick on Saturday. Doors open at 10 pm.
The Charnel House (3421 W. Fullerton Ave.) currently is showing “Below,” a play telling the story of “The Little Mermaid” through the eyes of her five sisters. Catch the show Thursdays through Saturdays until March 30 by purchasing tickets. Adapt Theatre Productions raised the funds needed for the production through a recent Kickstarter campaign.
