On March 20, new vegetarian hotspot Ground Control (@GroundCtrl3315, 3315 W. Armitage Ave.), owned by husband-and-wife team Carrie Haase and Dan Hanaway, welcomed nearly 50 neighbors, business owners and LoganSquarist enthusiasts for our monthly meetup. What started as a quiet event eventually engulfed the main dining room of the cozy restaurant, so our event was moved to a yet unfinished portion of their establishment so we could carry on our networking and merrymaking.
The room just east of the main dining room had been slated to become a full bar, but while that has been put on hold the owners plan to use the space for smaller events, musical performances and larger gatherings (for inquires, contact them directly).

Although there was no liquor just yet, there was a small but respectable beer and wine list that servers Rhonda and Alissa kept delivering to talkative guests.
On the impressively varied menu, you will find vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items to satisfy even the most carnivorous in the group.
At the end of the official gathering, a group of LoganSquarist volunteers stayed for the grub and were more than pleased with the seitan jibarito and sweet potato tacos.

We said farewell to LoganSquarist writer Hannah Esper (@Hannah_Esper) who is moving onto new adventures out of the state, welcomed Erin Hegarty (@Eirn_Hargety) as a new writer volunteer.
We also rubbed shoulders with influential neighbors such as Katherine Duncan of Katherine Anne Confections (@kachocolatier, 2745 W. Armitage Ave.), Janelle Gonyea of re:find Joy (@refindjoy), Robert Ashmore of RoadieCab (@roadiecab), Lehia Franklin of LFA PR (@lfapr) and Gwen Zabicki (@gwendolynz) of the South Logan Arts Coalition, to name a few.
All in all, we had a great time and are looking forward to returning to this neighborhood gem. As always, thanks to our hosts, volunteers and our neighbors.
