Time Out Chicago recently announced the winners of its annual Eat Out Awards. Unsurprisingly, Logan Square dominated the Reader’s Choice awards. No longer just a hotspot for the art and music scene, our neighborhood has grown into one of the best food and drink destinations in the city. Here were your Logan Square TOC Award winners.
Best New Restaurant: Fat Rice (@eatfatrice, 2957 W. Diversey Ave.)
Known for their exotic menu and bold flavors, Fat Rice beat out Trenchermen, Grace and others for the honor of Best New Restaurant. Seven kinds of pickles, pumpkin and wintermelon soups, and the caramel catfish claypot are just a few of the interesting items that make Fat Rice a must-visit restaurant.
Best New Bar: Scofflaw (@scofflaw, 3201 W. Armitage Ave.)
Since it’s opening, Scofflaw has drawn patrons from all over the city, leading to a line out the door every Friday and Saturday night. They have a tremendous gin cocktail program, but they’re glad to fix you up an Old Fashioned if you’d rather drink whiskey. The intimate ambiance, talented bartenders and solid food menu (try the fries!) make Scofflaw the city’s best new bar.
Best New Sweets Shop: Bang Bang Pie Shop (@bangbangpie, 2051 N. California Ave.)
Bang Bang Pie Shop is a local favorite. With a simple menu featuring pies, biscuits and coffee, this has become the place to hang out on a lazy weekend morning. Come for the pie, stay for the communal seating and a friendly staff.
Best Chicago Micro-Brew: Revolution Brewing (@revbrewchicago, 2323 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
If you love beer and live in Chicago, you already know about Revolution Brewing. Regulars such as the Anti-Hero IPA and Eugene porter compliment their seasonal and special releases such as Very Mad Cow milk stout and the Straight Jacket barleywine. If you’re looking for a big, boozy beer, or something sessional that you can drink all day, Revolution has you covered.
The Critics’ Picks section of the Eat Out Awards also recognized Mama’s Nuts and Lula’s (@lulacafe, 2537 N. Kedzie Blvd.) sandwich series. Congratulations to all the winners of this year’s Eat Out Awards.
