A rainy evening didn’t dampen the spirit of neighbors and LoganSquarist volunteers as they headed to The Busy Beaver Button Co. (@BusyBeaver, 3279 W. Armitage Ave.) for something a little different at the neighborhood’s monthly meetup.
Museum, Refreshments and a Button Demo
Guests perused the Button Museum found lining the walls of the office while chatting with Busy Beaver owner Christen Carter (@BusyBeaverCC) and her team members Denise Gibson and Justine Rowland.

After soaking in some inspiration from the museum, we enjoyed some beer, wine and light refreshments provided by new LoganSquarist columnist Josh Allard, myself, and the good folks at Vas Forement Liquors (@vasforemost, 2300 N. Milwaukee) who made a generous donation.

Then Rowland lead everyone in a button making demonstration. Piles of fancy papers, stickers, markers and various shaped paper punchers were left out for us to use, and use them we did! After some encouragement and a little nudging, everyone had the chance to make their own.
To go along with our crafty endeavors, LoganSquarist now is button-official, thanks to events committee co-chair Nikki Way and the Busy Beaver Team!

While catching some refuge from the rain, 35th Ward Aldermanic-hopeful and ardent LoganSquarist supporter Nancy Schiavone (@nancy35ward) mingled with Paul Levin of the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce (@LSqChamber, 3147 W. Logan Blvd. #12), Nathan “Deodorant King of Chicago” Morin of North Coast Organics (@NorCoastOrganic), and a smattering of about 25 other neighbors and business owners.
Thanks and See You Next Month
We’d like to extend a big thanks to everyone who braved the weather to come out, and an especially big thanks to the Busy Beaver team and everyone else who make this event possible.
We’d also like to welcome additional new ambassadors political writer Erin Hegarty, and marketing committee members Brittney Lane and Hugo Olvera.

See you next month at our Neighbor Meetup to be held at D’Noche Restaurant (@cafednoche, 2710 N. Milwaukee Ave.) on Wednesday, May 15. Reserve your spot.
