Farmers markets in Logan Square: They’re not just for Sundays anymore.
In addition to the Sunday morning market run by the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce (@LSFarmersMarket, currently held 10 am-3 pm at Congress Theater and at the corner of Logan Boulevard and Milwaukee Avenue starting May 19), the neighborhood also will host a special night market on Wednesday evenings.
The Logan Square Night Market will include vendors as well as arts and crafts, local artisans, local restaurants and performances of “Romeo and Juliet” by The Hypocrites (@TheHypocrites).
Mayor Emanuel announced via press release that the city’s Farmers Market program is gearing up for two nighttime “spinoffs” of the traditional markets. Lucky for us, one of these is landing right here in the neighborhood. The Logan Square Night Market will be held every Wednesday from 5 pm-9 pm in Palmer Square Park (Palmer Street and Sacramento Avenue) starting June 26 and running through September 4.
“Our Farmers Markets are cultural touchstones for the city, but more importantly, they bring fresh produce directly to our residents and visitors,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “This year, the new Spinoff Night Markets in Uptown and Logan Square will elevate and expand neighborhood cultural assets, a priority of the Chicago Cultural Plan.”
Is this confirmed? I went to the Town Hall meeting about this last month and there was nothing confirmed back then. In fact, many residents of the area who attended this meeting were opposed to this idea.
Here’s an email I just received, “The market will now be at Milwaukee and Kedzie at the CTA stop. It’s suppose to start tonight.”
Yes, I just got it now as well. Thanks for the update 🙂
I am so excited about this. My husband and I just love the LS Sunday market. This weeknight one is even better since we are right across from Palmer Park!
Me too, and now we’re only a few weeks away! Thanks for reading Becky.
