Using sculpture, painting, photography and installation, seven Chicago-based artists discuss the roles of women, culture and relationships through their art. “HER” opened this weekend at Beauty and Brawn Art Gallery and Think Space (3501 W. Fullerton Ave.).
The opening brought artists, creatives and neighbors together to take in the new installation. With beats spun by local Fuzzbox Chicago (@fuzzboxchicago), Logan Square’s local DJ duo, attendees noshed on food and drink while assessing the art.
Captivating photography, collections of family relics, unique mommy and son paintings and 3D installations make up the latest art exhibit at Logan Square’s art gallery. Inspired by the honesty and simplicity of being female, featured artists demonstrate unique aspects of what it means to be a woman.
Featured artists include:
- Christine Bespalec-Davis
- Lauren Goldstein
- Amanda Lee Franck
- Jannah Tate
- Melanie Brown
- Susan Kimball
- Lindsey Meyers
The art exhibit will be on display through July 13, and during LoganSquarist’s spring fundraiser on May 25. A second closing exhibition will be held on July 13, 6 pm – 10 pm. Regular viewing hours are by appointment.
