On the last weekend of June, Chicagoans gathered to celebrate the art, music and food of Logan Square. This year the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival (MAAF, @MilAveArtsFest) was held along Milwaukee Avenue from Kedzie to Diversey, making it easier to see everything the festival had to offer.
Music highlights included a headline performance from William Cepeda, rhymes from Show You Suck and rock-apella group Blue Ribbon Glee Club.
Art was on display in booths as well as pop-up galleries, with wire portraits from Neglected Renderings (you might have spotted his work at Township (@yourtownship, 2200 N. California Ave.)) and miniature sculptures from Garth Brovicka among many others. Check out these beautiful shots from Wetervin.
Last but not least, great food was plentiful at this year’s festival. The cocktail tent in the former Pierre’s parking lot was a big hit, with Moscow Mules from Tito’s, Negroni Slushies from Parson’s (@ParsonsCHI, 2952 W. Armitage Ave.) and Malort cocktails from The Owl (@theOwlChicago, 2521 N. Milwaukee Ave.). Vendors outside the tent sold neighborhood favorites, including brats from Longman & Eagle (@longmanandeagle,
2657 N. Kedzie Ave.), mashed potatoes from Chicago Diner (@chicagodiner, 2333 N. Milwaukee Ave.) and creme puffs from Puffs of Doom.

I really thought that SLAC was the star of the show. Innovative and interesting contemporary art from our neighbors in Logan Square.
