During the mid-month heat wave, neighbors gathered at Table, Donkey and Stick (@TableDonkeyInn, 2728 W. Armitage Ave.) on July 17 at 7 pm for our monthly LoganSquarist Neighbor Meetup.
Exchanging stories of summer vacations, which included Alaska and Hawaii, guests cooled down over icy cocktails. Donning shorts, summer dresses and flats, we filled the serene patio and let the day fade to evening beneath strung lights and beside a botanical garden.
Spouses came out and supported. New neighbors and ambassadors joined the party along with the regulars. We welcomed two new LoganSquarist Ambassadors: Arielle Thomas, who will serve as our photographer, and Andrew Rothmund, who will cover entertainment, nightlife and more. A steady 25 attendees kept the conversation and drinks flowing.
Notable moments included drinking all of the restaurant’s housemade punch before switching to the gin and tonic botanical drink—the night’s $6 special.

Those who brought their appetite enjoyed the Wednesday night Alpine burger special, which included a hand-crafted double burger on a pretzel bun with a pint of beer and shot of bitters for $15.
Some who proclaimed, “It’s too hot to eat a regular-sized meal,” opted for the small plates, such as the sautéed frog legs, complete with bacon jam, beluga lentils, leeks, pickled garlic and blueberry.
All in all, we enjoyed a muggy night with neighbors enclosed by the patio’s picket fence.

Getting to Know You
Every month, Logan Square residents get together to meet their neighbors and their neighborhood at LoganSquarist events, whether through the brute of winter or in the thick humidity of summer heat waves.

LoganSquarist is hosting Summer on the Boulevard throughout the season. Join us on August 10 from 3 pm – 6 pm for another chance to meet your neighbors on the green grass of the boulevards (exact location TBA).
Also don’t miss next month’s neighbor meetup taking place at Paladar’s (@PaladarChicago, 2252 N. Western Ave.) new location on August 21. Bring your friends and neighbors and meet us on the patio. We’d love to meet you!
Nice, I may drag the family out to the next one, I had no idea these exist.
We will look for you in August!
