On a brisk February evening, nearly 30 neighbors gathered for LoganSquarist’s monthly Neighbor Meetup. This month’s event took a unique spin by taking place at the recently opened Paramount Personal Training (@ppt_chicago, 2624 W. Armitage Ave, 1E) in south Logan Square.
Stimulating conversation replaced any “heavy lifting” that normally takes place at Paramount. However, a Wii gaming system allowed attendees to pair up for a little friendly competition throughout the night. When not competing for the tennis champion title, folks explored the open fitness space filled with free weights, bands, weighted medicine balls, ropes and kettlebells.
Neighbors noshed and nibbled on drinks and snacks provided by 90 Miles Cuban Cafe (@90MilesChicago, 2540 W. Armitage Ave.). The sampling included vegetarian empanadas, plantains, chicken, black beans and rice. To wash it down, attendees had the choice of wine and mojitos. Paramount owner and trainer Alex Nsiah-Kumi Jr. served drinks and chatted with neighbors, as trainer and business manager Megan Mitchell mingled with the crowd.
