Logan Square Man Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle
A Logan Square man died shortly after being struck by a vehicle Friday night on the 2200 block of North Rockwell Street, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Jose Medina, 61, lived on the 2100 block of North Rockwell and was pronounced dead around 7 pm Friday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Medina was hit when a man was backing his vehicle up the wrong way down the one-way section of Rockwell Street to make an eastbound turn onto West Lyndale Street, a practice the man driving the vehicle and other drivers on the street we’re known to make, according to neighbors.
The driver of the vehicle also lives on the 2100 block of North Rockwell Street and was issued two citations. Police Major Accident Investigations Unit are investigating the accident.
Man Involved In Blue Line Attack Turns Himself In
The man who attempted to sexually assault a 19-year-old woman after she got off the Blue Line last week turned himself in to police Saturday night, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Leverne Burnette of the 4300 block of South Indiana Avenue turned himself in to police headquarters at 3510 S. Michigan Ave., according to the Tribune.
Burnettte allegedly followed the woman from the Loop, made suggestive hand gestures on the train and attempted to sexually assault her after pulling pieces of her clothing off on the 900 block of Van Buren Street around midnight, reports the Tribune.
Burnette is charged with two felonies: aggravated battery in a public place and attempted criminal sexual assault.
