There’s no shortage of places to work remotely in Logan Square, with options like Gaslight Coffee (@gaslight_coffee, 2385 N. Milwaukee Ave), Cafe Mustache (@cafemustache, 2313 N. Milwaukee Ave) and New Wave Coffee (@newwavecoffee, 2557 N. Milwaukee Ave) providing plenty of comfortable, caffeinated work space around the neighborhood. But sometimes it’s nice to get outside of the coffee shop setting–after all, if you’re not bound to an office, doesn’t that mean you can work anywhere with an available Wi-Fi signal?
So here’s an assortment of bars and restaurants—and one salon—that also offer free Wi-Fi, as well as some work space variety:
Letizia’s Fiore Ristorante and Natural Bakery
Come to Letizia’s Fiore (@LetiziasFiore, 2456 N. California Ave) in the morning for coffee and breakfast sandwiches, or treat yourself to an authentic Italian dinner while you work through the evening. Letizia’s Fiore is open at 7 am every day of the week, and closes at 10 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays, 5 pm on Tuesdays and 11 pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Start your day early at Map Room (@maproomtavern, 1949 N. Hoyne Ave). Open at 6:30 am on weekdays, Map Room serves sandwiches from Goddess and the Grocer, fresh-baked pastries from Bennison’s Bakery and fresh-brewed Intelligentsia coffee, this late-night neighborhood tavern is particularly ideal for anyone who wants to “get to the office” early and stay late. With outlets available near most tables, alcohol served starting at 11 am and take-out menus at the bar, Map Room is in it for the long haul with you.
Logan Bar and Grill
Logan Bar and Grill (@Loganbar, 2230 N. California Ave) offers a no frills setting for those who need a drink as much as they need to work late. If weather allows take up a table on the ample sidewalk patio, or cozy up at the bar for easy access to the night’s specials. Logan Bar is open from 11 am until 3 am on Saturdays and 11 am until 2 am the rest of the week.
Logan Square’s popular German restaurant and beer hall The Radler (@DasRadler, 2375 N. Milwaukee Ave) could also serve as your office for an evening. Snag one of their private tables (rather than the communal dining tables) and enjoy favorites from the menu like German onion pie and house-made wurst with their draft beer selection while you work. The Radler is open 4:30 pm until midnight Mondays through Thursdays, 11 am until 2am Fridays and Saturdays and 11am until midnight on Sundays.
At Logan Parlor (@LoganParlor, 3251 W. Fullerton Ave) you’ll find coffee, a friendly face and an assortment of cookies up at the hair salon’s bar, where guests are welcome to gather. Grab a bar seat, or set up shop in the “lather lounge” and make yourself at home. Make it an even more productive work session by arranging for a quick hair cut during a break. Logan Parlor opens noon until 8 pm Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 am until 6 pm on Saturdays.
Owen & Engine
British comfort food spot Owen & Engine (@OwenandEngine, 2700 N. Western Ave) has an easy, intimate setting that is perfect for evening productivity. Bring your lap-top and an empty stomach, and choose from a tasty selection of craft cocktails. Owen & Engine is open from 5 pm until 2am Mondays through Fridays, 11am until 2am on Saturdays and 11am until 12am on Sundays.
Steps away from the Logan Square Blue Line stop and the square itself, Reno (@RenoChicago, 2607 N. Milwaukee Ave) is a convenient neighborhood establishment offering bagels and pastries in the morning and their popular wood-fired pizzas in the afternoon and evening. Reno’s variety of food and drink options makes it a great place to keep working throughout the day. Reno is open from 8 am until 11 pm Mondays through Thursdays, 8 am until 1am on Fridays, Saturdays from 9 am until 3:30pm and 5:30pm-1am and Sundays from 9am-3:30pm and 5:30-11pm.
