Diner fans, rejoice! Finally, after a long-delayed re-opening of the popular breakfast joint, Cozy Corner (2294 N. Milwaukee Ave.) is ready to serve neighbors again. The restaurant, which has been in Logan Square for almost four decades, has now expanded to allow seating for 20 additional patrons (and some additional menu items!)
Brew Brew Coffee Lounge (@BrewBrewChicago, 3832 W. Diversey Ave.), at the edge of Logan Square, officially hosts their Grand Opening on Monday, September 8. The coffee shop, run by a trio of siblings, features baked goods from Sweet Cakes Bakery and JR Desserts. Local artists are encouraged to submit their work for display, on their website.
Owen + Alchemy (2355 N. Milwaukee Ave) is set to open this fall. In a sea of bars opening on that strip of Milwaukee Avenue, Owen + Alchemy counteracts the indulgence mindset. The theme “let my food be thy medicine” is central to this juice bar that will serve organic, unpasteurized cold-pressed juices. According to the website (www.owenandalchemy.com), they “decided to open our cold-pressed juice apothecary in Logan Square because of the creative mindset that blossoms in the West Side neighborhood.”
Provenance is officially closing its Logan Square location doors on September 27 (@ProvenanceFW, 2528 N. California Ave.). Their lease was not renewed by new building owners, despite petitioning and requests on behalf of the food and wine boutique to stay until the end of 2014. A family-owned farm-to-table restaurant/grocer is planned for the location. However, those still looking for small batch pasta and a great selection of wine can still visit their Lincoln Square location (2312 W. Leland Ave.).
