The historic estates and mansions on the boulevards of Logan Square offer an elegant beauty throughout the year, but when the leaves of autumn begin to turn, the estates reveal an enchanting and at times haunting character about their timeless facade. The overgrowth of flora such as the many tangling vines of ivy and the monstrously outstretched arms of the great elm trees lends a mysterious air to the earthen gallery.
These manors are reminiscent of the imagery laid out by early 20th-century horror-fantasy writer H.P. Lovecraft, who recorded his fantastic Gothic prose during the same era of thought in which the stone-craft mansions were originally inspired and conceived.
Happy Halloween!
