Neighborhood mainstays Twisted Scissors (2007 N. Point St.) & Pete’s Barber Shop (2873 N. Elston Ave.) invite the neighborhood to the Revolution Brewing Tap Room (3340 N. Kedzie Ave.) for a day of special thanks to their clients—past, present and future—for their years of continued support.
Hair We Go

This free event is open to the public, so visitors can bring a friend or five and have some brews with the very stylish and very tattooed staff of both shops. It all begins at 3 pm on Sunday, April 12 and will feature cuts (the musical kind) from DJ Fess Grandiose, as well as a photo booth by GlitterGuts—so you’d be wise to get in the chair soon and clean up your look before the party.
Keeping Themselves As Sharp
Earlier this month I had the pleasure of being one of two live models at Twisted Scissors for a barbering demo class taught by special guest Vinnie “The Edge” Morey, owner of Los Angeles’s The Proper Barbershop and artistic director for Unite Hair Care’s new men’s product line GO 24/7.
Before an attentive audience of stylists and barbers, Morey tamed my mane and, in the process, taught us all a thing or two about the history of the profession. Things like where exactly the difference lies between haircuts of different decades of the twentieth century. Or how hair care evolved out of the “barber-surgeons” practices of medieval Europe and into its own specialized industry.
