Someone struck a cyclist with a car last week, and autopsy results shed light on the stabbing deaths of a Logan Square couple.
Logan Couple’s Stabbing Death May Be A Homicide-Suicide
Police said the couple found stabbed to death in their home on the 2800 block of N. Maplewood Ave., as LoganSquarist reported last week, were named Gerald A. Watson and Susan Mangino-Watson.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office classified their deaths as a homicide-suicide, the Chicago Sun-Times said. According to the autopsy results, Mangino-Watson died of multiple sharp-force injuries inflicted by her husband, who then turned the knife on himself in an apparent suicide.
The pair had lived in the house since 2003.
Cyclist Critically Injured In Hit-and-Run
Ricardo “Richie” Capistrano was critically injured in a hit-and-run while riding his motorized bicycle in Logan Square last week, sources reported.
On April 3, Capistrano was returning to his home with shoes for his young son when he was struck and knocked unconscious by a dark-colored GMC Yukon or Chevrolet SUV that was turning onto N. Talman Avenue from North Avenue. The driver fled the scene, as shown by surveillance footage from a nearby liquor store.
The 26-year-old suffered from a punctured lung and has been bleeding from the brain, among other injuries, but is now conscious, DNAinfo reported.
Capistrano’s family has been taking a photo of the suspect’s car around the neighborhood in a search for leads, and anyone with information has been asked to contact the Major Accident Investigations Unit at (312) 745-4521.
