This week in crime news, a school bus crashed in western Logan Square, and CAPS meetings were scheduled for the beats covering the neighborhood.
School Bus Crashes Into Fence Near Pulaski And Fullerton
A school bus carrying 26 children crashed into a fence after swerving to avoid another vehicle at 3:50 p.m. Monday on the west side of Logan Square, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
The bus was traveling northbound on Pulaski when another vehicle attempted to make a left turn in front of the bus. According to news affairs, the bus driver swerved to avoid the turning vehicle and lost control before striking the fence on the southwest corner of the intersection of Pulaski and Belden.
No serious injuries were reported, police said, and no citations have been issued.
November CAPS Meeting Schedule
Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy meetings for the 14th District police station will be throughout November.
CAPS meetings bring residents and law enforcement together to discuss neighborhood crime. Residents can report any trends they’ve noticed, and CAPS officers report on crime trends and crime hot spots.
Beat 1421 will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Humboldt Park Library at 1605 N. Troy St. A combined meeting of Beats 1413 and 1414 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Logan Square Library at 3030 W. Fullerton Ave.
A Beat 1423 meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Casa Central at 1343 N. California Ave., and a joint meeting for Beats 1431 & 1432 is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Haas Park, 2402 N. Washtenaw Ave.
