Land and Sea Dept. and Paul McGee ended 2015 on a high note after Imbibe Magazine crowned Lost Lake (3154 W. Diversey Ave.) as 2015’s Cocktail Bar of the Year, reports NBC Chicago. The Logan Square tiki bar is featured in the magazine’s annual Imbibe 75 issue. But when McGee, who has been Chicago’s Best Bartender since 2010, is at the helm it is little wonder that Lost Lake has enjoyed a particularly successful first year.
Despite the unassuming facade, Lost Lake is teeming with with Polynesian-influenced charm and tipples. This spot is so much more than rum drinks with banana dolphins, though. The Lost Lake experience, as Imbibe notes, “combines the best in hospitality and drinks with fun and relaxing escapist vibes.”
Shelby Allison, who is a partner in Lost Lake as well as McGee’s wife, released a statement saying that “Imbibe magazine…is filled with features on other beverage professionals and establishments that we admire, so having them recognize Lost Lake as Cocktail Bar of the Year is especially meaningful and we’re so grateful.”
Allison also states that in the coming year, they’re looking forward to launching their rum club, introducing a new menu in late winter, and expanding their whisper menu with more classic cocktails. They’re also planning to continue bringing Lost Lake pop-ups to other cities, after having made appearances in Los Angeles, Austin, and Ft. Lauderdale.
So if you can’t swing a sunny, beach-y getaway this winter, you can thank McGee and Land and Sea Dept. for bringing the island life to you.
