Spring weather is finally beginning to show in Chicago, and for many including myself it’s time to pull the bikes out of winter storage to get them tuned for riding season. As spring rapidly approaches, the line to get your bike in for service can get long quick, so we visited one of Logan Square’s bike shops to see how prepared they are for the season. “The sooner you bring it in, the better,” suggests one employee of The Bike Lane (2130 N. Milwaukee Ave.).
The Bike Lane has a wide selection of bicycles for every type of rider, and you can even get a bike custom built right in the store. One of the more unique services at The Bike Lane is “Flat Fixes on the Fly,” where the store sends out an employee to fix a flat tire if you’re stranded in the city. It’s easy to see how passionate owners Max Hertz, Jon Timmins and Adam Glenn are about bikes, and they always seem eager to offer help and share their knowledge.
