Saki Records, which opened its doors in Logan Square in 2010, is closing.
The record store at 3716 W. Fullerton Ave., which also served as a performance space and art gallery, is set to close December 4, according to a newsletter published by the owners.
“At our current location, saki is unsustainable. Rather than try to find new space, move, and reconstitute, we have decided the best thing is to shut down and move on to something new,” reads a letter from the owners.
“But we want you to know that it’s not over yet,” reads a newsletter from the business. The store was set to close on December 1, but they’ve delayed this until Sunday, December 4. Leading up to the store locking its doors, they’ll host a sale: 50 percent off merchandise. Hours are 12-8 on Friday and Saturday, as well as 12-7 on Sunday.
CTD, Ltd. is the independently owned record distribution company that also ran behind the saki doors. Founded in 1996, CTD, Ltd. specialized in selling to independent music stores and small independently owned regional chains and distributors.
