Busy Beaver Button Co. (3407 W. Armitage Ave.) moved just down the block from their former space at the end of November, but it took more than a year and a half to restore their new building into a function space. Christen Carter, president and Owner, says staying a local business in Logan Square was top priority for their employees, customers and the neighborhood.
The new space allows separation of the office, museum and production, allowing them better work flow and room to expand their services. Busy Beaver receives hundreds of orders every week ranging in size from a couple hundred to tens of thousands of pieces, all made by hand in-house.
The Button Museum, the only of its kind, features custom magnetic frames and categories such as advertising, art, beer, Chicago, events, music, politics and more. A team of archivists photograph and categorize the collection, which consists of over 170,000 buttons. About a tenth of the collection is currently on display. Visitors are encouraged to come in to look around and maybe even plan their next button project.
