Why did you choose Logan Square? What do you love most about Logan Square?
My family has lived here since the early days of Logan Square and has seen it develop into this amazing community.
If you could only use one word, how would you describe Logan Square?
Do you do business in Logan Square?
Yes, I own a co-op online platform: www.subletinn.com. It’s a co-op started about six years ago that’s been slowly growing into what it is today. The goal of the co-op has always been to create a “family” here in Chicago to people who don’t know anyone in the city. Most of the people are new to the city, which is intimidating, so this house serves as a great way to meet new people and have a great time while you’re here. To see some of our residents, see the photo above.
People eventually grow out of the space (or move back to their country) but leave with these amazing friendships built. That’s really what it’s all about! The find us either through word of mouth, or our online postings catch their eye. We really stress the community aspect.
What are your all-time favorite places around the neighborhood?
California CTA stop, 90 Miles, Lazo’s Tacos.
Describe how you currently contribute to the community.
I bring awesome people from all over the world into the heart of Logan Square!
What’s the most unique thing about you?
I love listening. I love understanding perspectives that are not my own. This is how I get to know someone. I compare and contrast, and my goal isn’t to convince someone of my perspective (in fact, I would say I’m a bad arguer). My goal really is to let the person know that someone with possibly different points of views can listen, understand and be empathetic. Hopefully, that makes the person more empathetic, and ultimately that makes the world a better place.
