Logan Square’s beautiful parks and famous boulevards are only two types of green, public spaces for the neighborhood. From the moment visitors step off the train stop that shares the name of the neighborhood, they walk through a community garden. Whether it’s through the growth of beautiful flowers or providing sustenance, here are just a few local gardens that serve the community.
1. Paseo Prairie Garden, 2614 N. Kedzie Ave.
This is a beautiful public garden right outside the Logan Square Blue Line entrance. This garden is maintained and kept pretty by the hard work of people living in the Logan Square neighborhood.
2. Altgeld Sawyer Corner Farm, 2501 N. Sawyer Ave.
This vacant lot-turned-community-garden is a green space that provides fresh food to local families and Christopher House food pantry. It is a community resource that helps neighbors come together to benefit Logan Square.
3. Kimball Medill Corner Farm, 2324 N. Kimball Ave.
This lot was previously Kimball Avenue Church, and after a required tear down the lot became vacant. This Corner Farm provides 30 plots for 15 farmers. It operates on a grow one, give one model to benefit neighbors and local families in need.
4. Logan Square Neighbors Park, 2531 N. Sacramento Ave.
This spot is maintained by the local community as an urban farm.
5. Paradise Garden, 2214 N. Drake Ave.
This vacant space was cleaned up by neighbors in the area. It is now a quiet, pretty public garden and space for dogs to run through the fenced-in area.
