Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the hours for Longman & Eagle’s Thanksgiving hours. The article has been corrected.
If you’re looking to stay local this Thanksgiving or haven’t been able to summon your usual Ina Garten hostessing chops, no worries — Logan Square has plenty of options to help you pull off a successfully delicious holiday.
Parson’s Chicken & Fish (2952 W. Armitage Ave.)
If you’re planning to spend Turkey Day with just your bestie or your boo, it looks like you’ll be needing dinner for two. Check out Parson’s holiday dinner-for-two menu available for pre-order (pick-up on Thanksgiving Day, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.). For $50, you and your plus one can feast on one whole fried Amish chicken, green chile cornbread, braised green beans, cranberry walnut salad and mashed potatoes with gravy. There are other items available, too, including their beloved hush puppies and slices of Bang Bang pie. Visit their website to place your order.
Bang Bang Pie Shop (2051 N. California Ave.)
But if one slice of Bang Bang’s pie isn’t enough (it really never is, is it?), make sure to order your whole pie soon! Online orders are open through November 18. You can satisfy that holiday sweet tooth with their classic apple, roasted pumpkin, chocolate pecan or key lime pies. To place your order, visit their website.
The General (2528 N. California Ave.)
It would seem that this town actually is big enough for two pie shops because The General is also slinging pies for Thanksgiving. So if you’re looking for a less traditional treat to grace your table this year, check out The General. Offerings include chocolate peanut butter, chocolate mousse and salted caramel, sesame caramel, pumpkin, and pecan pies, as well as a pear tart. Online orders must be placed by November 20, so reserve yours ASAP! To place your order, visit their website.
The Owl (2521 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
After a long day of toiling in the kitchen, entertaining guests and inhaling everything from stuffing to green bean casserole, you might be hankering for a nightcap. And you’d probably like to let a little loose somewhere where piles of dirty dishes aren’t staring at you. If that’s the case, kick back with a drink at The Owl from 10 p.m. – 4 a.m.
The OSB at Longman & Eagle (2657 N. Kedzie Ave.)
Sometimes, bad things happen to good hosts/hostesses, so just in case something unfortunate befalls that magnificent turkey, look no further than the OSB at L&E for your Plan B. Join them at OSB from 3 p.m. – midnight or at the front bar from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. for a leftovers sandwich and some drinks.
The Native (2417 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
If you’re still at odds and ends over what to do this Thanksgiving or just want to switch it up a bit, head over to The Native’s Friendsgiving potluck! The bar will open at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and guests are welcome to bring any leftovers or make something especially for the potluck. To top it off, The Native will run their Thursday drink special of $2 off all drafts. Check out their Facebook page for more details.
