While walking down Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, it’s easy to get pulled into stores with charming facades. New jewelry and design studio Adornment + Theory is no exception. Its gold emblem logo and display of unique jewelry options instantly draw you into a trendy shop showcasing uniquely designed pieces.
Aiming to share her jewelry collection, owner Viviana Langhoff opened Adornment + Theory (2644 1/2 N. Milwaukee Ave.) next to the Logan Theater just over one month ago. As a 14-year resident of Logan Square, she knew the neighborhood would be the ideal location for her shop.
“Logan Square is an amazing community that supports artists and craft culture,” Langhoff said. “I would think of no better place to continue to pour into our community than to open our store here.”
The store showcases jewelry from designers around the country, including six local artists such as Beth Clark, Audrey Keiffer and Susan Wheeler.
“I select emerging artists who inspire me — artists who have built a mature body of work that’s distinctly them,” Langhoff said. “Their work is unique, wearable, and well crafted.”
Throughout the store, you’ll find one-of-a-kind accessories and wearable art pieces that push boundaries for traditional jewelry.
Adornment + Theory carries accessories ranging from $30 to $400 for jewelry. The work is created from a wide variety of materials such as silver and cement to leather and powder-coated steel. The store even offers a “Jewelry Bar” experience — an opportunity to collaborate one-on-one with Langhoff to design a one-of-a-kind, unique jewelry piece. Langhoff’s commitment to accessible prices and curated art pieces allow a range of options for others to start building their personal collection of accessories.
“Being an art jewelry collector is not exclusive to the elite,” Langhoff said.
Jewelry is just the beginning for Adornment + Theory. In the year to come, expect upcoming workshops, art openings and further collaborations. More information on the shop can be found on Adornment + Theory’s Instagram page.
