‘Tis the season at Park & Field’s Holiday Event, starting Nov. 25 and going through all of December.
For a cold and breezy weekend, the event is off to a huge start, with a packed house of families building DIY gingerbread houses by the fireplace and sipping complimentary hot cocoa and coffee. There’s also a “Bottomless Boozy Brunch” served in the main room, great for a drink and stop at the buffet.
It is cute to see the kids ignore their tablets and smartphones and carefully cover their gingerbread roofs with sticky gumdrops and frosting while the adults relax and socialize. And Santa Claus is on hand, in case the little ones want to sit on his lap and update their wish list.
There are beautiful fir trees to purchase and take home and a Walgreens just down the street for those of you who don’t feel like trekking out of the neighborhood or do not have any ornaments to put on the tree.
And as always, you have the convenience of several brands of beers on tap and a sports game to watch on one of their many screens. If you have family and friends coming to town, this is a great place to start their tour of Logan Square before heading downtown to all of the tourist traps.
This weekend’s weather is supposed to be in the 50s, so you can hang out by the fireplace or outside at one of the restaurant and bar’s signature outdoor fire pits. Make Park & Field patio one of the stops on your tour of Holidays on The Square: Build a gingerbread house, have some free cocoa or something a bit stronger.
