What’s your role with LoganSquarist?
I am a staff writer and focus on a wide variety of topics such as local politics, business, arts, social justice and more!
Where are you from originally?
I was born in Boulder, Colorado but grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
When did you join?
June 2018.
Do you write professionally?
I freelance and write for radio at my day job.
What made you interested in volunteering for LoganSquarist?
I think community journalism is important and want to make sure the vital stories unfolding in Logan Square are reported with care.
What is your favorite LoganSquarist story you worked on?
My favorite piece I’ve done was about Boulevard Bikes and the way its relationship to Logan Square has grown and changed over the years.
What is your favorite restaurant or hang out in Logan Square?
My favorite place to hang out and bring guests is Same Day Café. They always have the most delicious bread!
What’s your favorite thing to do in the neighborhood?
My favorite thing to do is bike around the neighborhood during the summer and soak up all the sights, sounds and smells. There is always so much going on!
What has been the best part about joining the team?
The best part about joining LoganSquarist has been getting support for writing and reporting that I have never had before.
How has it affected your outlook on journalism?
Working at LoganSquarist has reminded me that there are stories all around us if we take the time to look.
