There’s something immensely satisfying about bringing your own boozy beverage to dinner. Maybe it feels nice to know that you’re skipping out on pricey cocktails or that you’re not going to be stuck with a potentially lackluster beer list. Or maybe it’s just fun when all of your friends show up to dinner with different wines to try. Either way, while Logan Square knows a thing or two about great drinks, there are also a number of fantastic BYO places worth checking out.
90 Miles Cuban Cafe (2540 W. Armitage Ave.)
This neighborhood staple is a great place to not only bring your favorite beer or wine, but your favorite spirit as well. You can enjoy their delicious Cuban fare alongside a cocktail of your making when you purchase a mojito, sangria, or piña colada mixer. On top of that, their brunch spread features a bloody mary bar and agua fresca station. Just to note, there is a corkage fee of $10 but this is waived on Mondays and weekdays from 3pm-6pm.
Casa Yari (3268 W. Fullerton Ave.)
The next time you’re in the mood to BYO, check out this year’s Best of Logan Square Best Restaurant winner, Casa Yari. This neighborhood gem showcases a variety of dishes from Latin America and their extensive menu easily caters to vegetarian and vegan diners. Check out our recent review about the Puerto Rican-Honduran fusion restaurant to learn more about what lies behind the maroon curtains.
Gorilla Sushi (2735 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
The Logan Square location of this Japanese restaurant chain is known for dishing out extremely affordable sushi. With many of their rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and appetizers coming in at under $3 per dish, Gorilla Sushi is an ace spot for indulging that sushi craving while on a budget. Add to that their BYOB policy, you’re in for a feast that’s satisfying for both you and your wallet.
L’Patron (3749 W. Fullerton Ave.)
It just so happens that Logan Square’s favorite taqueria is also BYOB. So feel free to crack open that beer while you’re waiting for all the incredible tacos and burritos to arrive at your table. For all our wine drinkers, just note that there is a $0.25 charge for plastic cups. So don’t forget your porron at home!
Same Day Cafe (2651 N. Kedzie Blvd.)
This charming cafe is mostly known for its phenomenal sandwiches (looking at you, BLT) and the fact that it’s named for the dry cleaning shop that used to be stationed in its place. And while it would be super easy to pop next door to Logan Liquors to pick up a six pack or bottle of wine, consider grabbing a small bottle of your favorite spirit to pair with one of their fantastic sodas. With flavors like wild cherry, coffee, ginger, jalapeno, lime, and mint, the possibilities are endless.
Trike (2539 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
Lastly, but certainly not least, is this year’s Best of Logan Square’s winner for Best BYOB Venue. This popular Thai and sushi spot is always bustling, and with Logan Liquors and Your Happy Place Liquors bookending the restaurant, it couldn’t be easier to pick up a little something on your way to dinner.
