Discover the people behind the scenes that bring you articles, events and more in our LoganSquarist Staff Highlight column.
What’s your role with LoganSquarist?
Staff reporter
What have you worked on recently?
Chicago’s New Boss article and the Elevated Chicago/ community benefits agreement article are two recent pieces I wrote.
Where are you from originally?
Normal, Illinois
When did you join?
September 2018
Do you write professionally?
Kind of, but not quite professionally … I’m a graduate student studying journalism at Northwestern.
What made you interested in volunteering for LoganSquarist?
I wanted to practice my reporting while pushing myself to see and do more in my neighborhood. I liked how LoganSquarist was run by people within the neighborhood, rather than outsiders looking in, and I wanted to be part of it.
What is your favorite LoganSquarist story you produced?
Probably the Chicago’s New Boss article. I liked writing about something that pertains to both Logan Square and Chicago residents and (hopefully) it piques their interest in an election that holds so much significance for our city.
What is your favorite restaurant or hang out in Logan Square?
Hmmm, I can’t choose just one. Bang Bang Pie, The Native, La Boulangerie, Logan Theatre, Logan Bar and Estereo.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the neighborhood?
I love walking, running and biking down the boulevards.
What has been the best part about joining the team?
The best part has been witnessing my fellow LoganSquarist team members in action—it’s very cool to be around people who are invested in their neighborhood and are using their coveted free time to pursue a passion project!
How has it contributed to your professional work/career?
I definitely have gotten better at keeping an eye and ear out for newsworthy things going on in Logan Square, which has made me a better storyteller and journalist.
