You know how it is… You’re scrolling through your local Facebook Community Group and someone asks, “Are there any sex dungeons in Logan Square?”
As it happens, there is one. Chicago Dungeon Rentals (CDR), run and owned by Sophia Chase, has operated rather discreetly for five years.
Sophia Chase, a dominatrix with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, created Chicago Dungeon Rentals after working in other locations in the city and seeing a need for something newer, more inviting to conversations about kink, inclusivity and sensuality.

“Chicago is such a travel hub,” Chase tells me. “And Logan Square is so CTA-accessible. Along with our local and international customers, we have a lot of couples in long-distance relationships who meet here to connect.”
The Logan Square location is Sophia Chase’s flagship rental, followed by a West Loop location and a wheelchair-accessible facility in Albany Park. Business, apparently, is booming.
CDR is different from other dungeons in Chicago in two ways, Chase said. One: they are open to total newbies to BDSM and, two: they are fully stocked with toys, lubes and lotions—most places require you to bring your own gear, she added.
Even though people have been known to bring suitcases of their personal fun stuff, there’s a little gift shop area for guests to purchase to use during their stay and/or to take home.

For those new to the community, there are 90-minute classes available with educator Sarah Sloane, emphasizing on The Three C’s: Communication, Compassion, and Consent
An active member of the area since 2009, Chase was a guest on Eric Barry’s Full Disclosure Live at The Whistler in 2013. She held a demonstration in spanking, paddling and nipple piercing, after which she gave an interview.
Recently, the Logan Square CDR rental was used as a location shot for season three of the Netflix show, “Easy“. It’s j

As dungeons go, this one is neither as scary or imposing as one might think. There’s soft music playing overhead, giving it a spa-like atmosphere. A cozy one-bedroom complete with a kitchen and living room, Chicago Dungeon Rentals really has the comforts of home…granted, it’s a home complete with two playrooms, The Red Room and The Chamber—each complete with whips, chains, and a St. Andrew’s Cross: a bondage apparatus for those who find mere spankings to be passe’.
There’s also a First-Aid kit available in both playrooms. The most used item? Ibuprofen

Many of the toys, equipment, and artwork adorning the walls are from local artists and vendors. Chase said she makes certain items herself and does repairs. Just like any Airbnb rental, it really is a hands-on establishment.

The Chicago Dungeon Rentals webpage is a font of information about the kink community, but there are also other places to explore in the city, such as Galleria Domain and The Next Generation Chicago, or TNCG.
If you have an anniversary coming up, or you’d like to offer your partner something spicier than an edible bouquet, feel free to fill out CDR’s contact form or email them directly at info@chicagodungeonrentals.com.
