These rainy, humid days may have us feeling like summer has completely abandoned us, but don’t lose hope. Because just as sure as the sky is blue, that glorious sunshine will be here and with it, everyone’s favorite time of the year: patio season! It’s finally here so take a moment to refresh your patio and rooftop memory; there are some new spots to check out and all your old favorites to revisit.
BIG & Little’s (3000 W. Fullerton Ave.)
BIG & Little’s opened their fifth location at the corner of Fullerton and Sacramento, and with it, a patio large enough to rival the likes of Parson’s, The Moonlighter, and Park & Field. And with plenty of outdoor seating, a bonfire pit, and those dog-friendly vibes, this neighborhood newcomer is sure to be a hit this summer.

Bixi Beer (2515 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
Unofficially Logan Square’s most Instagram-able restaurant, the upstairs atrium of this Asian-inspired brewpub is never not picture perfect with it’s bright white walls and vibrant greenery. It’s the neighborhood’s first-ever rooftop bar. And when it’s as beautiful outside as it is inside, the atrium opens up onto a terrace that’s made for those warm summer days.

Daisies (2523 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
This pasta-centric, farm-to-table gem is ushering in summer with a newly designed patio which is always available for walk-ins. Daisies is serving up its sophisticated, seasonal fare not just for dinner, but for Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch, too. Carbs and sunshine – doesn’t get much better than that.
Estereo (2450 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
This popular Latin American and Caribbean-inspired bar is never not busy, especially when all the windows are thrown open and the place becomes one, big partying patio. And with an extensive selection of spirits, a great cocktail menu, and its dog-friendly scene Estereo is an easy place to sip away the summer. Also, do yourself a favor and check out @dogsofestereo.

With plenty of tables and space, Lonesome Rose’s rooftop patio is perfect for groups and you know what that means: groups = pitchers. So round up your squad and head up to Lonesome Rose for some great Tex-Mex fare and a pitcher or two of margaritas.
Mini Mott (3057 W. Logan Blvd.)
What is more summer-y than noshing on a taiyaki ice cream cone outside in the sunshine? Swing by Mini Mott’s patio, which overlooks the always bustling Logan Boulevard, and enjoy the celebrated burger or one of their innovative new sandwiches before chowing down on that fish cone.
The Old Plank (2700 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
The latest addition to Esam Hani’s collection of Milwaukee Ave. restaurants and bars arrived just in time for summer. Hani revived the former Parts & Labor space with this Tex-Mex concept, serving up everything from tacos to wings to sandwiches. The restaurant has some outdoor seating near the entrance which is perfect for some people watching, but the real party is in the back where guests can chill on the new patio with one of their signature avocado or mango margaritas.

Spilt Milk Tavern (2758 W. Fullerton Ave.)
Come for the frozen coffee cocktail, stay for the patio. Outfitted with roomy picnic tables and cozy adirondack chairs, the back patio at Spilt Milk Tavern is a summer night’s dream. And if you need a nibble while you’re there, thefellerchicago has you covered with delicious bites like chicken nuggets, burgers, and potato wedges.
Weegee’s Lounge (3659 W. Armitage Ave.)
Tucked away at Armitage and Lawndale, Weegee’s Lounge is a classic cocktail bar with a low key vibe that is a welcome respite from the bustling Milwaukee Ave. scene. Enjoy a great drink on their spacious back patio or grab a friend and get in line for the shuffleboard.
