Discover the people behind the scenes that bring you articles, events and more in our LoganSquarist Staff Highlight column.
What’s your role with LoganSquarist?
Staff photographer.
What have you been working on recently?
I have been doing local drone shots and checking out the new businesses in the surrounding area.
Where are you from originally?
I am from the beautiful country of Poland, cześć!
When did you join?
June 2018 —a year already!
Do you do photography professionally?
Yes, I help local businesses with their social media, website and marketing by creating the visual content they need to showcase their business services. Restaurants, orthodontics, Child’s Playground, Logan Square Salon and a dentist office are some of my current clients.
What made you interested in volunteering for LoganSquarist?
I wanted to meet fellow neighbors, locals, business owners and cover what makes our community unique, including both the good and bad. Being in the area for over 20 years, I’ve gotten to see how beautiful and more community-minded Logan Square is becoming.
What is your favorite LoganSquarist story or project you worked on?
So far, my favorite was working with Richard Pallardy on Interiors-Exteriors: Life in a Factory. I loved learning about the history of the location, which used to be the Wold Airbrush Factory and is now Sulzen Fine Art Studio, and the interesting artwork of artists Julie Sulzen and Dan Zamudio. It was one of my favorite portraits taken of them.
What is your favorite restaurant or hang out in Logan Square?
Buzz Coffee or Chiya Chai—I love their vibe! I wish they were open until 2 a.m. for the creative night owls. 🦉
What’s your favorite thing to do in the neighborhood?
You’ll find me with the drone in the neighborhood, or a camera. If you see me, feel free to come and say hi! I love capturing video and photographs with the drone. It’s like an eagle eye—it allows me to see things from a unique and interesting perspective. I love capturing what’s here now and I look forward to comparing it with the years to come. See my work on Instagram and check out this Logan Square monument video!
What has been the best part about joining the team?
Finding stories and collaboration with good team members to create the stories has been the best part about joining the team!
What have you learned from working with LSQ?
A group of passionate and creative neighbors can make a great impact on the community. LoganSquarist highlights stories you won’t see in the main media, which makes it even that more unique.
Check out Paulina’s professional work on LoganSquarist, on her website and on social media! And remember to say hi and make a new friend next time you see her and her drone flying around the neighborhood.
