The term “dank brew” will have a whole new meaning starting Jan. 1, thanks to Logan Square’s Revolution Brewing.
The company has announced it will celebrate the legalization of recreational marijuana in Illinois with the release of Legal Hero, a new double dry-hopped Hazy IPA that echoes the “deep, grassy and resinous qualities” of cannabis. However, the beer will be free of any THC or CBD.
“Legal Hero is a celebration beer for our local fans who are seeing change happen right before their eyes,” said Revolution Brewing’s Josh Deth. “It was illegal to drink beer in this country at one point too. We’re cheering the liberalization of marijuana laws in Illinois, and some of the historical wrongs that can be righted as a result.”

The announcement follows the recent news that local business MOCA Modern Cannabis (2369 N. Milwaukee Ave.) is one of nine Chicago dispensaries that will also be permitted to sell recreational marijuana starting in January.
Legal Hero will be available on draft and in four-packs of cans at the Revolution Taproom and Brewery (3340 N. Kedzie Ave) and the Revolution Brewpub (2323 N. Milwaukee Ave.) starting Jan. 1.
According to Revolution Brewing, recommended pairings for the new beer include tacos, nacho cheese Doritos, Hawaiian pizza, and the television show Planet Earth.
