What’s your role with LoganSquarist?
Events Marketing Manager.
Where are you from originally?
I was born in Longmont, Colorado and grew up in Belvidere, Illinois. I remember getting butterflies driving into Chicago when I was younger and seeing the skyline. I love that 20 plus years later I still get them, even being a resident now and seeing it every day.
What have you been working on recently?
Recently I’ve been working on promotional efforts for our monthly neighborhood meetups. These monthly events provide an opportunity to connect with neighbors, support local businesses and embrace the sense of community that is so unique to Logan Square. Our next one is Jan. 15 at Pilot Project!

What made you interested in volunteering for LoganSquarist?
I moved to Logan Square in the summer of 2019 after spending the last six years in Lakeview. I noticed an immediate difference in the vibe of the neighborhood. I love the genuine, approachable nature of Logan Square residents (no shade to Lakeview, I still love the North Side!) and I wanted a way to get more involved with this welcoming community, meet some new faces and continue to build on my professional skills.
Do you write and work in marketing professionally?
My current work includes small components of each. I work for the Alzheimer’s Association and oversee their membership society. One of my main focuses is on utilizing digital marketing strategies to engage current members and recruit new members to help move the needle ahead and advance Alzheimer’s research and treatment.
What is your favorite LSQ event you worked on?
I really enjoyed the first neighbor meetup I worked on at Papa Cenar. It was the perfect introduction to our meetups! The promotional aspect was fun, as the restaurant had only been open a few weeks and there was a lot of buzz. The meetup itself welcomed such a diverse group; I spoke with residents who have lived in the area for more than 20 years and a couple who had just moved from Arkansas. It was a cool thing to witness neighbors introducing themselves and bonding over tapas and sangria.
What is your favorite restaurant or hang out in Logan Square?
With it being January, I have relied heavily on ramen from Wasabi. I also have to commend Middle Brow for not only their creative pizzas and beer, but also their community engagement efforts. They offer a bread club for aspiring bakers, a pizza making night for the kids, and host live local musicians on Sunday evenings. They are the epitome of Logan Square and a perfect example of what makes this neighborhood so special (they should probably hire me on the side as their overly-enthusiastic spokesperson).
What’s your favorite thing to do in the neighborhood?
Since I have only been in the neighborhood for six months, I am still very much in the “honeymoon phase”, trying all of the new restaurants, cafes and shops. I also love strolling along the 606 when the weather is nice.
What has been the best part about joining the team?
The people, of course! LoganSquarist is spoiled with such a warm and inspiring crew. I love being around highly motivated staff who set ambitious goals and think outside the box, but also know how to have fun and not take themselves too seriously.
What have you learned from working with LSQ?
Working with LSQ has helped me make deeper connections with local businesses and residents and has shown me what meaningful impact volunteers can have on their community.
