Do you know someone who’s starting to feel blue about being on lock down? Maybe they accidentally dialed into a video conference call naked, say, or they’re running low on their favorite hoarded toiletry item?
Well, now you can cheer up your friend and help support a local business with a curated coronavirus care package from Steel Petal Press (2321 N. Milwaukee Ave.).
The store’s brick-and-mortar location is closed as everyone shelters in place, but they are offering a variety of specialty care packages — including Unicorn Magic, Girl Power, Book Lover, Work From Home, Cat Love, and many more — that they’ll ship out for free along with a card and a hand-written note.
“As a small, local business we rely on all our amazing customers,” said Steel Petal Press in a recent email. “We love being a part of the Logan Square community and are ever thankful for your continued support!! It really means everything!”

The care packages feature everything from reusable bags and bars of soap to magnets, mugs, socks and more. Specific items that caught our eye include a Mystical Cats in Secret Places coloring book (Cat Love package), a Worry Doll (Don’t Worry package), and a Binge-Watching Beauty Kit (Netflix and Chill package).
Steel Petal Press began as a part-time endeavor in 2008 when owner Shayna Norwood decided to design and print her own holiday cards to send to friends and family. The business has since grown and today features a full line of hand-printed greeting cards sold across the country as well as home goods, personal stationery and more.
In addition to the care packages, Steel Petal Press has been busy adding retail items to its online shop, including unique puzzles, adult coloring books, and games.
Prices of the care packages range from $20 to $55. Use the code “VIRTUALHUG” when checking out for free shipping on orders over $25. More information is available on the Steel Petal Press website.
