Come mid-August, Logan Square will welcome a new Pure Barre studio in the neighborhood (2506 N. Milwaukee Ave.). The fitness studio will help add variety to the new residential and commercial landscape that has transformed Milwaukee Avenue between Kedzie and Sacramento avenues.
Pure Barre Logan Square will mark the second of owner Kim French’s Pure Barre studios, described as “total body workout” studios that focus on low-impact, high-intensity movements. Her first studio, located in Park Ridge, employs around eight instructors, with class sizes ranging from 20-25 students. The new studio will offer a similar experience to that of other Pure Barre studios; however, the Logan spot will also boast a wall of windows and lots of natural light.
French is planning for the mid-August opening, even amid the uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This Friday, June 26, Chicago is set to enter Phase 4 of its coronavirus response, in which gyms will be able to have people work out indoors, Block Club Chicago reported. Gym customers will have to wear masks and maintain 6 feet of distance, and gyms must enforce capacity limits. French said she will take extra care in cleaning, though the Logan spot is only taking membership sign-ups now. The Pure Barre company said it is taking “extensive health and safety measures” as studios reopen.
“I’m so excited to bring Pure Barre to the Logan Square neighborhood. I can’t wait to grow within the community and treat our clients to the best 50-minute workout they have ever experienced.”
Kim French, Studio Owner
French started looking at locations for the new studio last summer. The rapid growth of the area around Milwaukee Avenue, along with the momentum of new restaurants and residential buildings, combined with a lack of gyms and studios, made Logan Square her top pick, she said.
Like many of us, French tried a lot of different studios and workouts. She first encountered Pure Barre while living in New York City and said she quickly fell in love with the studio’s technique and positive community. A die-hard student, French said that she was eventually going to classes daily. This experience made the transition from client to owner a smooth process, as she can make decisions with clients’ needs in mind, she said.
Pure Barre is the largest and most established barre franchise, with over 550 locations across the U.S. The intense, low-impact technique helps people of all fitness levels and body types target strength, flexibility and cardio goals. Each class lasts 50 minutes and includes self-focus time, for a mind and body workout, Pure Barre says.
Pure Barre Logan Square is offering a 20% off its unlimited package for the lifetime of the membership for anyone who signs up before the new studio’s grand opening.
