Laura Hawbaker • Former Writer

Laura returned to Chicago this year after living in Prague, Poland, Hawaii, and New Orleans. She's written for the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, Time Out Magazine, and Newcity Magazine. Laura is a Fulbright scholar and holds degrees in Fiction Writing and Linguistics. When not writing, Laura teaches and draws. Her art is sold at Logan Square boutiques Wolfbait & B-girls and Shop 1021.

Inside the Evolution of the 10-Year Logan Square Arts Festival

The Logan Square Arts Festival began as a grungy, DIY gallery pop-up in the midst of the 2009 financial crisis. Now, the festival is circling back to its roots, adding a stronger arts presence and a lineup that reflects the decades-long history of the neighborhood, with music from Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Honduras.
